Corporate Governance

Module code: MN2136

Failures of corporate governance can sink companies. Reputational damage, costly legal settlements, slumps in share prices and even full-blown collapse can all stem from poor leadership at the top.

What exactly goes into corporate governance though? This module will introduce you to some key concepts, practices and regulation behind the people at the top.

You'll look at the main types of governance and control mechanisms and practices in corporations in the USA, UK and Europe. You'll assess detailed case studies of corporate governance failures to determine the challenges faced by those at the top and how to solve them. Plus, you'll analyse key corporate governance regulatory initiatives, including environmental reporting and sustainable governance, and their potential impact on companies’ performance and the relations between stakeholders and managers.
