Advanced Topics in Infection and Immunity

Module code: MB7305

Module Outline

In spite of the global importance of infectious diseases, and the evolution of immune responses to combat and prevent such infections; microbiology and immunology originally evolved as separate disciplines. This module emphasises how the two disciplines have converged and aims to reinforce important bridging concepts between the two fields. This is done by using a series of research-based lectures and tutorials delivered by scientists and clinicians who work at the fore-front of research on interactions between pathogens, the immune system and the progression of infectious diseases.

In addition to lectures and tutorials, students will use student-led presentations, participation in an online discussion forum, and private study time to reinforce and extend their knowledge in these subject areas.
