International Environmental Law

This module aims to introduce you to some of the key themes and areas of interest in international environmental law. The module will expose you to a broad range of topics including climate change law and specifically the Paris Agreement, trade and environmental law, the precautionary principle, biotechnology regulation, sustainable development and public participation and access to environmental justice. The module will also equip you with an understanding of various environmental problems and recurring themes in environmental law and protection such as risk and uncertainty, justice, use of expert knowledge and tensions between environmental protection and the economy. We will also consider the growing relevance of the ‘Anthropocene’.
