Gender, Sexuality and the Law

In this module you can examine contemporary issues to consider whether the law is equal for everyone, how law affects gender and sexuality and how the law interacts with, regulates, and controls gender and sexuality.

You will learn about issues of gender and sexuality that are ever-present within the law and discuss the gendered ways in which law is applied. You will first learn about feminist and queer legal theory as tools to help you critically analyse the law. Armed with this foundation, you will discuss diverse topics that permit the examination of the interplay of gender, sexuality and law from different perspectives, including the need for reform in contentious areas.
