Jurisprudence
Module code: LW3410
Jurisprudence is the philosophy of law. The nature of justice, the origins of the state’s authority and the extent of legal authority are some of the issues you'll consider during this module. You'll examine influential figures from contemporary philosophers to ancient ones such as Plato, to widen your knowledge on jurisprudence.
Undertaking your own research will lead you to analyse selected schools of thought and legal philosophers alike, while reflecting upon the relationship between law and society. By the end of this module you'll have developed and challenged your own theoretical understanding of the law and its functions.
