The Dynamic Biosphere

Module code: GY2352

This module will enable you to develop a broad understanding of the life systems of the biosphere at a range of different scales. It provides a solid foundation for the more detailed consideration of this topic during the third year.

Specifically, the module examines the relationships between the living and non-living components of the environment over space and time; fluxes of matter and energy within ecosystems; how physical factors and biological interactions influence species distributions; and how ecosystems respond to environmental change. It also introduces current applications of modelling and remote sensing to ecosystem management.
