Social Choice

As human beings we are social creatures by design and as social creatures our individual opinions, choices and interests when measured from a collective group perspective have a massive impact on societal and economic policies. Social choice is a theory proposed by economists to study how the choices we make can be grouped and analysed using mathematical proofs to understand how the combination of individual choices can result in collective social judgements and social welfare. This module will cover some of the core models used to understand social theory and how some of the mathematical principles have been applied to other pressing economic problems.
