Topics in Applied Econometrics

Module code: EC2011

Moving on from the statistical techniques you have completed during first year and your Introduction to Econometrics, this module will dive into the wider uses of mathematical models in real world situations, and their relevance to polices that have been implemented. You will broaden your understanding of econometric analysis and its limitations by looking at how these results affect a worker's education, work experience and their earnings.

You will be shown how to find variables and extract data from several major economic surveys, including the Current Population Survey (CPS) of the U.S. and the Labour Force Survey (LFS) of the U.K. This will then help you to propose economic questions that are interesting or policy relevant and empirically testable.
