In this module we will cover basic theoretical models and practical skills for the design and evaluation of interactive systems. We will explore the core concepts of usability and UX, and also the principles of design. We will consider both good and bad designs and discuss the essential skills and methods that HCI practitioners need.
You will gain a good understanding of IxD and UX principles and concepts as well as hands-on experience in prototyping and conducting UX studies. We will also analyse some existing technology designs, looking at them from theoretical, methodological and practical perspectives.

- Experience-centred design approaches
- Methods for identifying user needs and preferences
- Approaches to devising suitable forms of solution to design problems
