Programming: Perl for Bioinformatics

Perl is a simple scripting language that is useful for bioinformatics housekeeping tasks, but is at the same time powerful enough to be used in the majority of bioinformatics webservers. In this module you will learn key commands and the most typical programming structures used in Perl. Following the material covered in the interactive lectures you will solve small programming problems in the afternoon tutorials to improve your programming skills. Using the skills you learn, you will be able to write Perl programs in a Bioinformatics environment under the consideration of already existing solutions and structures in public domain databases such as CPAN and BioPerl.
