This module explores the chronological development of this period of British prehistory, and throughout you’ll be discussing the key themes and major debates about the Neolithic.

Applying theoretical approaches will help you to assess archaeological material and put your interpretations down in writing. In seminars you’ll discuss the changing interpretations of the Neolithic in relation to broader transformations within archaeological thought, and how your own research responds to this. This module aims to:

  • Develop an understanding of key theories and debates surrounding the archaeology of the Neolithic in Britain
  • Consider change over time in the prehistory of Britain
  • Encourage an awareness of the range of archaeological techniques that can be brought to bear on the past
