Leicester Medical School

Leicester Medical Society

The Society was founded in 1800 with the purpose of supporting doctors in the local area and encouraging communication between specialities.

Today its activities include monthly lectures, an opportunity to network and stay connected, bursary provision for students and continued support for local medical professionals and their families.

Membership and meetings

The Society holds monthly meetings, where the main event is an interesting (and often inspiring) lecture. All Leicestershire based medics are welcome to attend, and we encourage you to join the Society if, after your first meeting, you are interested.

Membership of the Society helps to continue our growing network of local doctors, and assists in the provision of refreshments and running costs of the Society. The membership fee is £30 per year.

Students at the Leicester Medical School are entitled to free membership of the Society and will be invited to become full members upon completion of their training if they remain local.

If you are interested in becoming a member please download and complete the membership application form (docx, 14kb) and sending it to the current Chair (details on the form).
