Impact of Diasporas on the Making of Britain

Modelling Migration

Human genetic diversity has many layers, reflecting different demographic episodes such as particular past migrations and diasporas. There is a clear need for an objective assessment of the meaning of patterns of genetic diversity in Britain and of the demographic impacts of diasporas. This can be approached through computer modelling, informed by other disciplines. This project used computer simulations in a geographically-explicit framework to model processes of genetic change in populations in Britain over historical time (i.e. Late Iron Age to the present).
