The Centre for Hate Studies

Impact

The Centre’s research agenda is shaped by our desire to ensure that victims do not live in fear, do not suffer in silence, and are not prevented from accessing justice. For this reason we conduct research which generates the empirical evidence needed to produce achievable recommendations which if implemented have the capacity to make a sustained different with respect to helping organisations and professionals support hate crime victims more effectively.

The research and outputs of the Centre for Hate Studies have substantially changed awareness and understanding of hate crime and its associated harms amongst a broad range of beneficiaries including victims, witnesses, practitioners and policy-makers from different sectors; and transformed responses to victims and perpetrators through the development of new strategies, changes to reporting mechanisms, and enriching training packages and interventions.
