Graduation is an important moment in any student’s life – a chance to celebrate academic achievements in the company of family, friends and colleagues.
We’ve put together a list of top tips to help you prepare for your special day.
Location, location, location
Are you confident about your travel to the ceremony? Why not take a look at the University’s travel arrangements guide for information about location, travel and parking.
Timing is everything
Whether your ceremony is 11.00am or 3.00pm, it's important that you read the timetable for the day to ensure that everything runs smoothly and on time.
Your graduation gown won’t have pockets, so remember to bring a bag to put your essentials in, or wear clothing with pockets beneath your gown. After all, your hands will be occupied with holding your degree certificate and University brochure!
Lights, camera, action
Don’t forget that your ceremony will be streamed live online, so be sure to send the link to anyone who is unable to attend.
What to wear
Your graduation ceremony is a formal event, so clothing underneath your graduation robes should be smart. Make sure you read the graduand dress code, as students wearing inappropriate clothing or footwear will not be allowed to attend their ceremony.
We all want to look good on our big day – after all, you deserve to look and feel your best! Do remember that you’ll be on your feet for most of the day so wear comfortable footwear that won’t leave you hobbling across the stage!
Get camera happy
Graduation will be one of the most memorable days of your life, so make sure to capture it all on your phone and camera! Don’t forget to tag us in your photos, along with #LeicesterGrad
Arrange a meeting place
Once the graduation ceremony is over, students often flock to the doors all at once. It’s a good idea to arrange a meeting place with family and friends so you can find them easily.
Keep in touch
The University of Leicester is overwhelmingly proud of all of its graduates and we hope you will keep in touch through the Development and Alumni Relations Office.
Your graduation ceremony is the culmination of all your hard work and academic success. Enjoy the day and be proud of all you have achieved!
