Oral history training (face-to-face)

We offer oral history training on an outreach basis as either half-day (3 hour) or full-day (6 hours) workshops for groups of up to 12 people.

Each session offers an insight into and discussion of the practice of oral history; practical advice on planning for oral history; interview skills workshop; an overview of audio recording equipment; after the interview; consent and ethics of interviewing. We can tailor the session to fit with the aims of your project.

Oral history training (online)

We offer online oral history training as half-day (2.5 hours) workshops delivered via Microsoft Teams for groups of up to 12 people.

Each session offers an insight into and discussion of the practice of oral history; practical advice on planning for remote oral history; interview skills for remote interviewing workshop; recording your interview remotely; after the interview; consent and ethics of remote interviewing. We can tailor the session to fit with the aims of your project.

Tailored oral history workshops (face-to-face or online)

We can deliver workshops focusing on specific aspects of oral history practice, such as planning your interviews, interviewing skills and summarising and transcription. We offer these as half-day face-to-face (3 hours) or half-day online (2.5 hours) workshops for groups of up to 12 people. Online delivery is via Microsoft Teams.

Support and advice

We also provide help and support to groups and individuals working on oral history projects and offer an audio recorder loans service, depending on availability.
