In this extract our interviewee describes his job as a 'clicker' at the local shoe factory. Apparently a 'clicker' was responsible for cutting out the skins following patterns made from cardboard or metal, bundling them into pairs and sending them to the machinist to be made into shoes.
He also recalls certain features of the local dialect, particularly in the question "en any on ya ot yoursens?", which means 'have any of you hurt yourselves?'.
