Diverse-city is a Strength: Introducing the New Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Team

A photograph of the EDI Committee, standing in front of a periodic table in the foyer of the George Porter building Here at Leicester Chemistry we embed Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to live and work in one of the first super-diverse cities in the UK, where almost 60% of the local population are from minoritised ethnic backgrounds. Such diversity of culture, thought, and expression is welcomed and celebrated within the School and wider city, with mutual respect for our differences and a realisation that such diversity is a strength that can help us all to be better chemists, colleagues, and citizens.

Creating and managing a diverse workspace is a process, not a destination. When we listen to each other and celebrate what is both common and different, we become wiser, stronger and better as a School and organisation.
