Special Issue Launch

Join the CAMEo Research Institute for Cultural and Media Economies for the launch of our co-edited special issue of the Journal of Cultural Analysis and Social Change, entitled ‘And the Winner is…? Prizes and Awards in Arts and Culture’.

Based on an interdisciplinary research symposium held at the University of Leicester in June 2018, the issue features a number of original articles from researchers of music, film, publishing and food & drink each discussing the proliferation, meanings and impacts of different cultural prizes and awards.

The programme of the afternoon:

  • Introduction: from the Journal of Cultural Analysis and Social Change Editor-in-Chief Dr Simon Stewart (University of Portsmouth) and special issue editor Dr Stevie Marsden (CAMEo).
  • Paper presentation: from Dr Thomas Thurnell-Read (Loughborough University) based on his special issue article: ‘You won't see anyone promoting a Bronze’: Awards and Ambivalence Amongst Craft Gin Producers.
  • Followed by festive drinks and mince pies!
