PANDA
Background
PANDA aims to use an approach based on questionnaires completed by parents to establish a routine system for the collection of follow-up information at a corrected age of 2 years for very preterm infants. Data will be collected on The Neonatal Survey (TNS) infants who fulfil the following criteria: born from 01/01/2007 onwards to a mother resident in East Midlands and Yorkshire, less than 31 weeks' gestation, survivors at 2 years of corrected age.
The study started on 1 April 2008 and currently has an end date of 31 March 2015.
Aims
The study aims to provide information about the long-term outcome of very preterm infants to health professionals for the counselling of parents. The study also aims to monitor the appropriateness of treatments and the cost effectiveness of neonatal intensive care services. All data collected will be checked, collated, and analysed in the Department of Population Health Sciences, University of Leicester. Data security and confidentiality protocols are strictly adhered to in all the studies in the Department of Population Health Sciences, University of Leicester.
