The Coaching and Officiating Pathway Award.
The Coaching and Officiating Pathway Award supports University of Leicester students who are looking to develop their coaching or officiating skills through recognised National Governing Body (NGB) qualification pathways.
Whether you are taking your first steps into coaching or are working towards higher-level officiating qualifications, the award is designed to help you progress your development while contributing to the University sporting community.
Applications 2026/27
The Coaching and Officiating Pathway Award is currently on hold while we review the programme for the 2026/27 academic year.
We hope to relaunch the award later in the academic year and will share details of eligibility, funding opportunities and the application process once confirmed.
What the award typically supports
The award is intended to support students who are committed to developing as coaches or officials within their sport. Funding may be available towards:

National Governing Body (NGB) coaching qualifications.

Officiating and referee qualifications.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.

Additional qualifications such as Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid training.

Progression through recognised coaching and officiating pathways.
Who can apply?
The award is usually open to:

Current University of Leicester students.

Students who have secured a place to study at the University of Leicester (undergraduate or postgraduate).
Priority is generally given to applicants who demonstrate a commitment to their personal development and to supporting sport at the University through Team Leicester clubs and programmes.
