Coaching and Officiating Pathway Award
The Coaching and Officiating Pathway Award is now open for applications.
This award supports University of Leicester students - undergraduate or postgraduate - who want to progress along their coaching or officiating journey. It provides personalised support to help you develop through recognised National Governing Body (NGB) qualification pathways.
Who should apply?
We welcome applications from students who are committed to developing as coaches or officials and who aim to reach high levels within their sport and also support their Team Leicester clubs. This may include:
- Applying for an NGB coaching qualification for your respective sport.
- Completing additional CPD or qualifications such as safeguarding or Emergency First Aid.
- Working towards higher level officiating awards.
What the award offers
Successful applicants will receive a financial contribution towards agreed NGB qualifications or continuous learning opportunities. Please note: the award may not cover the full cost of your chosen qualification.
Eligibility
You must either:
- Already be studying at the University of Leicester, or
- Have secured a place for the 2026/27 academic year (undergraduate or postgraduate, any course)

- Academic eligibility for 2026/27 will be checked before any award is confirmed.
- Only one award is made each year.
- Successful applicants will be expected to support the University in promoting sport where appropriate.
