A unique collection of books on German Expressionism from the library of art historian and critic Dr Frank Whitford has been acquired by our University. Dr Frank Whitford was an authority on art of the period, and a senior member of Wolfson College, Cambridge.

Leicester probably started as a Celtic settlement. It was the capital of the local Celtic tribe, the Coriletavi. The Romans invaded Britain in 43 AD and they captured Leicestershire by 47 AD. The Romans built a fort at Leicester in 48 AD.

University supporting Town and Gown 10k run

The University of Leicester has declared its support for the new Leicester Town and Gown charity run. The 10k race, organised by charity Muscular Dystrophy UK, is coming to the city for the first time on Sunday 5 March.
