Dean of Research celebrates awards and nominations
We are hugely pleased that our Dean of Research, Professor Mat Hughes, has recently been longlisted for one award and won another.
In September 2024, Mat was longlisted for the Management Publication of the Year Award at the British Academy of Management International Conference for his podcast series 'Professor Mat Hughes'.
This new nationwide prize, a collaboration between the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the British Academy of Management (BAM), and the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) aims to shine a spotlight on the cutting-edge research and innovative thinking transforming the UK business landscape.
The diverse 19-title longlist has been selected across the award's three categories - Sustainable Futures, SME Growth and Social Enterprise and Innovation.
In February 2025, Mat was recognised as a 2023/24 FamilyBusiness.org Schulze Publication Award recipient for their articles, "Family Business Succession, Innovation and Compensation: What You Need to Know" and "Using AI to Grow Your Family Business".
Named after Richard Schulze, founder of Best Buy, this award honours articles that have made a significant impact on FamilyBusiness.org and EIX, based on readership and engagement. Mat's work stood out for its clarity, insight, and ability to connect research with real-world family business challenges.
FamilyBusiness.org and EIX welcomed over 15 million visitors this year, reinforcing the platforms as trusted global resources.
