Profile

I joined the university in 2008 to work on the Mid-Infrared Instrument for the James Webb Space Telescope, which was launched on Christmas Day 2021, and soon I also started to work on the Mercury Imaging X-ray Spectrometer for the BepiColombo mission, which is on its way to Mercury. I had previously worked with X-ray and other radiation detector systems, their testing and characterisation for space-borne astrophysics, particle physics and atmospheric physics since 1990.

Research

My funding comes from external sources, mainly the UK Space Agency to participate in the BepiColombo, JWST and SMILE missions with some STFC funding to participate in the science exploitation of the James Webb Space Telescope as member of MIRI Science Team and co-investigator in Guest Observer proposals.
