Dr Sara Naylor
Teaching Fellow in Translation Studies
Profile
I have taught on various postgraduate and undergraduate translation studies modules at the University of Leicester for the last 8 years. I completed my PhD in translation studies in the department in 2018. My thesis looked at the notions of performability and performativity in the translation of Federico García Lorca’s plays from Spanish to English. Before commencing my PhD I worked in industry for many years as a Spanish to English translator and linguist. I also spent time teaching English in Spain.
Research
My research interests include literary translation and in particular the translation of plays. I am also currently looking at the role of paratexts in translation.
