Profile
I am an applied theorist with main research interests in the fields of Industrial Economics - Innovation and Competition Economics and Policy in particular – and Economic Growth Theory.
I hold a PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Economics and a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Siena. Prior to (re-)joining the University of Leicester in 2023, I worked at the Universities of Nottingham, Leicester and Bologna.
My work has been published in top field and general interest academic journals, such as the RAND Journal of Economics, the Economic Journal, and the International Journal of Industrial Organization.
Research
My main research interests lie in the areas of Industrial Economics and Growth Theory – joined by my underlying interest and expertise in the Economics of Innovation and Intellectual Property.
A large part of my previous research has focused on the strategic determinants of firm’s innovativeness and diversity, and their effect on the dynamics of innovative markets competition and economic growth. More recently, my research work extended to the fields of Information Economics, Political Economy and Finance.
Methodologically, my research projects encompass both microeconomic and macroeconomic approaches, and often combine theoretical with empirical methodologies. I have experience in supervising both theoretical and empirical PhD projects related to my research areas.
