Dr Marcin Wozniak

I completed my PhD at the University of Tübingen followed by a postdoc in Prof. Viki Allan’s lab in Mancheter. Before moving to Leicester I worked as a research scientist in the NHSBT.

My research focuses on aspects of organ injury in cardiac surgery patients: • Novel biomarker discovery for acute kidney injury; • Mechanisms underlying endothelial dysfunction in AKI; • Multimorbidity; • Obesity paradox. We use a range of techniques that includes the next generation sequencing flow cytometry microscopy-based in vitro models of inflammation and combine it with bioinformatics and statistical analysis. We are supported by the British Heart Foundation NIHR Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit and Van Geest Heart and Cardiovascular Diseases Research Fund
