Profile
I manage the school's XRF facility which includes a sample preparation laboratory and XRF machine room. I train and supervise academics postgraduates and undergraduates in XRF sample preparation and XRF theory. This includes the use of our portable XRF. I also operate maintain and supervise users on our Hitachi SEM and Phenom desktop SEM. I have over 30 years technical experience which also includes thin sectioning, ICP-OES, ICP-MS and maintaining teaching materials.
I have accompanied undergraduates on their studies on numerous field courses such as Swiss Alps, Devon and Cornwall Applied Geology and to the Welsh Basin.

Activities
2020 Royal Institute Christmas Lectures - show runner.
This was a 3 week placement funded by Gatsby Charitable Foundation and The Technician Commitment. I helped to make demos as part of the Ri team and I also worked on the filming of one of the lectures, placing demos in the lecture theatre ready for the presenter.
