Profile

I have a BSc in Psychology (University of Birmingham) and an MSc in Sports and Exercise Psychology (Loughborough University).  In 2022, I completed my PhD at Loughborough University where my thesis explored physical activity and physical health for adolescents in secure psychiatric care. Following my PhD, I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Loughborough University developing an integrated intervention for physical activity participation and promotion within secure psychiatric care. I joined Leicester University as an Early Career Fellow in October 2023.

Research

Using a mixed-methods approach, my research focuses on the health inequalities faced by those with severe mental illness. This includes the increased vulnerability of people with severe mental illness of developing non-communicable physical health conditions, namely cardiometabolic issues. My work extends to the design and development of lifestyle interventions (particularly physical activity) aimed at improving health outcomes in various populations. I am particularly interested in using co-production methods to explore how we can best integrate lifestyle interventions into routine care.
