Profile

Currently, as a Dean of Internationalisation (DoI), I lead the development and delivery of the College of Science and Engineering, which encompasses several Schools in Global Recruitment and Partnerships Strategy, with particular focus on promotion of international student recruitment, effective research collaborations, external partnership development and global reputation.  I am also the Director of Admissions and Outreach (DAO) and the Director of Programmes (DP) for the School of Engineering.  To lead and manage an efficient and effective admissions operation and service for the University to include home and international admissions at all levels and subjects.  Working closely with senior Managements to design and implement strategies, plans, processes and systems that will ensure provision of an outstanding service to all applicants and academic departments.  I am also responsible for developing new programmes to remain competitive and diversify student’s recruitment market.  As a DP, I am responsible for the academic quality, integrity, curriculum planning, validation and accreditation of the programmes, as well as teaching and supervision duties.  Shortly after joining The University of Leicester, I introduced measured which resulted in significant increase in student numbers, yearly revenue generation from £2m to over £6m. 

I also have over 8 years of Industrial experience as a dedicated and result driven middle manager with a highly successful background in the achievement of profitable business growth through substantial operational, commercial and technical experience within Automotive and white goods industry.  Demonstrated considerable expertise in continuous improvement, cost and waste reduction as well as in all facets of operational and logistics management including market research, R&D, new product launch and design change within the remit of quality system.  Enjoys being part of, as well as managing, motivating and training, a successful and productive team, and thrives in highly pressurised and challenging working environments

Research

I have successfully completed my PhD in the remit of Smart Materials with emphasis on Piezoelectric materials for energy harvesting.  My work also developed close collaboration with International partners to produce and commercialise 3D smart fabric that enables generating, storing and efficiently utilising energy for powering electronic devices.

Supervision

Over the years, I have supervised numerous Postgraduate students both here in the U.K. and abroad.  I have had the pleasure also to supervisor both PhD and MPhil students.  My expertise of supervision is mainly within the Smart Materials, Energy Harvesting and Automotive and Business Management disciplines drawn from my Industrial experience as well as from being a CEO of couple of businesses.

Activities

As a Director of Admissions and Outreach, I organise and manage the Offer Holder and Open Days on Campus to ensure that the students and guests are completely satisfied with the events.  I also work with regional Colleges to establish ways in which to make the students transition as smooth as possible from FE to HE sector.
