Dr Has takes a research-informed approach to teaching encouraging students to engage critically with contemporary issues through an interdisciplinary lens.

Research

Dr Has's primary research focuses on critical urban studies, international political economy and securitization theory with a keen interest in themes of conflict, development and identity politics. He examines how urban environments are shaped by conflict dynamics and the resulting development challenges particularly in regions experiencing political instability. His work explores the intersections of various identities analysing how individuals, especially women and marginalized groups, navigate and resist socio-political and economic forces that impact their lives. By utilizing a ‘glocal securitization (glosec)’ framework, Dr Has aim to uncover complex interactions between local and global processes revealing how these dynamics influence societal security and urban transformation. Committed to social justice, his research seeks to illuminate the ways in which power, identity and inequality intersect that fosters critical dialogue on the challenges faced by marginalized communities striving for resilience in the face of oppression. Through this lens, Dr Has emphasizes the importance of understanding how diverse identities (class, race, gender) mutually shape individual experiences and collective movements simultaneously within (in)securitized urban space.
