Profile
Dr Emine Celiker is a lecturer within the biomedical engineering research group, School of Engineering. Dr Celiker has a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, from the Eastern Mediterranean University, North Cyprus. After the completion of her PhD, she held a one-year research fellowship at the University of Dundee, Scotland. During this year, she worked on the construction of novel finite element methods for the simulation of problems in engineering. This was followed by a post-doctoral research assistant position at the University of Lincoln. Working as part of the Bioacoustics and Sensory Biology lab., Dr Celiker carried out the numerical investigation of the biomechanism behind the katydid (an insect relative of crickets) hearing system and pioneered the use of accurate 3D ear geometries in the numerical simulation of insect hearing. She is currently conducting research in hearing using insects as models, as well as in other topics in computational biology and numerical analysis.
