Profile

Dr Daqi Liu is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences with expertise in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Bio-inspired Computational Models.

Previously, he was a Research Fellow in the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing, University of Surrey.

He has published several scientific papers in top-ranked journals, including IEEE transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI), IEEE transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), IEEE transactions on Cybernetics etc. 

Research

My research areas include:

  • Computer Vision: Object Detection, Semantic Segmentation, Scene Graph Generation, Image Captioning, Visual Question Answering
  • Machine Learning: Bayesian Inference, especially Variational Bayesian 
  • Deep Learning: Convolutional Neural Network, Graph Neural Network, Transformer, Self-supervised Learning 
  • Bio-inspired Computational Models: Spiking Neural Networks
