Profile

I became a teacher of science with specialism in Physics in 1990 and taught in secondary schools in Birmingham for 15 years. I then joined the teacher education team at Newman College working with teaching students across undergraduate and post graduate teaching degrees. I joined the PGCE secondary team at Leicester in 2019 were I look after the professional studies strand and support the science subject strand. I am the Secondary link tutor with out partner SCITTs. I have a particular interest in support teachers to understand the nature of science and the epistemology of the discipline.

Research

I am working with the Epistemic Insight consortium which has a number of university partners in Teacher Education. This is action research into the development of ways that explore epistemic insight of beginning teachers and how they use this to deepen their understanding of subjects and disciplines in schools
