Coronavirus update
Over the past 48 hours it has been reported that Leicester is currently experiencing an increase in the number of people testing positive for coronavirus.
Therefore, we need to control the virus. This means that the City will continue with the existing Government lockdown guidance for a further two weeks and not ease restrictions on 4 July.
We appreciate the recent measures will cause some concern and anxiety. We want to re-assure you that Leicester is a safe City and that these measures aim to quickly control the spread of the virus to protect the community and our NHS. This approach is consistent with public health advice for controlling the local spread of the virus as we ease from lockdown.
For anyone living, working or studying in Leicester there are four test centres and appointments can be booked nationally or by calling 119. We encourage anyone who has symptoms or if you’ve been in close contact with someone who has had symptoms, to get tested as soon as possible.
We will provides further updates on 30 June, and information and guidance is available on our coronavirus pages.
Stay safe and healthy.
