Free public talk on climate change
Climate/atmospheric scientist Katherine Hayhoe famously said that the most important thing you can do (right now) to fight climate change is to talk about it. To that end - on November 20-21 - Climate Reality is presenting 24 Hours of Reality: Truth in Action, a global conversation on the truth of the climate crisis and how we solve it. For one full 24-hour period, Climate Reality Leader volunteers trained by former Vice President Al Gore will hold public presentations and conversations on our changing climate in schools, community centres, workplaces, and more around the world.
Our guest speaker at the University of Leicester will be Natalie Roddis:
Natalie Roddis was personally trained by former US Vice President Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project Team to serve as a volunteer Climate Reality Leader for the Climate Reality Leadership Corps. Natalie was trained in Berlin, Germany in 2018. The training was a multi-day event focused on providing a select group of trainees with a deep understanding of the latest climate change science, as well as best practices in public speaking, social media, leadership, communication, community outreach, and organising. Natalie is one of thousands of trained Climate Reality Leaders from over 135 countries trained by Climate Reality Founder and Chairman Al Gore. This group has been extraordinarily successful at reaching people in their communities and informing them about the global climate crisis and its solutions.
For each audience member who attends a presentation (and fills out the form), Climate Reality will plant one tree on their behalf, thanks to their friends at One Tree Planted. This will enable the audience to directly contribute to key reforestation projects that are helping to clean our air and water, store carbon and protect the planet for generations to come.
This free event, open to all, takes place in the Ken Edwards Building, Lecture Theatre 2 from 6.00pm on Wednesday 20 November. Please book your place via Eventbrite.
