Alumnuss new book envisions safe cities of the future
Big data, technology and greenery working together can help bring about a safer future in cities, according to a new book co-authored by a Leicester graduate.
Dr Allan Bonner is one of the authors of Cyber City Safe: Emergency Planning Beyond the Maginot Line, which envisions a future ideal city, safe from a range of threats and challenges, based around the use of big data, technology and modern green living. In exploring these concepts, the book touches upon modern issues of cybersecurity, emergency planning and climate change and how we might overcome these. The book also includes a preface by our Dr Simon Bennett, Director of our Civil Safety and Security Unit.
Dr Allan Bonner, who founded crisis communications consultancy Allan Bonner Communications Management, studied with our Civil Safety and Security Unit gaining an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management. He has since returned to the University to share his insights with students and staff.
