Leicester academic featured in prestigious publication
The work of a University academic on Middle East Politics has featured in the Harvard International Review (HIR).
Dr Marianna Charountaki is lecturer in Kurdish Politics and International Relations in the School of History, Politics and International Relations. In a 1,500 Op-Ed article on the aftermath of the Kurdish Referendum and its historic connotations, the scholar provides an overall assessment of the implications of the Kurdish referendum on independence and the wider region.
Dr Charountaki said: “The aftermath of the 25th September referendum in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reflects the importance that the international community and regional powers alike attach to the Kurdish issue as well as the latter’s increasing impact”.
