Leicester celebrates new cohort of students with vibrant Welcome Week programme

This week sees the arrival of a new cohort of students to our University.

Starting University can feel like a daunting task, however the events planned out for Welcome Week will encourage a smooth transition for students into their new phase of life - with a range of free fairs, medical services, and a formal welcoming ceremony.

Activities on offer for Freshers include a Matriculation ceremony, The Fabulous First Year Fair, Volunteering Fair, Societies Fair and The Sports and Active Life Fair.

The Victoria Park Health Centre will also have a Training Room set up offering advice on how to register as a patient with them.

The week provides an opportunity to make new friends, become well-acquainted with campus, and discover the many ways that you can make the most of your time at university.

Professor Jon Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming all our new students to the University of Leicester.

“Our students come to us from all over the UK and from over 100 other countries. Colleagues from all areas of the University have put together a great programme designed to help all these students settle in and make friends as quickly as possible so they can get the most out of their time studying with us.”
