KISU observer of the Kurdistan Independence Referendum Elections
A University academic, from the School of History, Politics and International Relations, has taken part in a fact-finding mission to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Dr Marianna Charountaki (pictured), Lecturer in Kurdish Politics and International Relations, and Head of KISU (Kurdistan International Studies Unit), participated in a series of interactive workshops on the occasion of the electoral process in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The workshops involved international scholars, political analysts and other US think-tanks and European Centres. The visit also included a series of meetings and substantial debates to understand the current political developments and was held with KRG officials as well as other minority groups.
