16th Annual American Studies Lecture will bring a taste of Broadway to Leicester
The Centre for American Studies annual lecture will be delivered this year by Professor Annette Saddik- Professor of English and Theatre at New York City College of Technology and the CUNY Graduate Centre Doctoral Program in Theatre.
The free public lecture “Tennessee Williams on Broadway: Reimagining The Glass Menagerie” will focus on five-character memory play The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams.
Professor Saddik will discuss the history of The Glass Menagerie on Broadway, including three recent key interpretations in relation to the original 1945 production. She will also discuss her role in the New York City theatre community, and how Broadway, as an institution, has changed since the first production of The Glass Menagerie.
The lecture will be held in the Belvoir Park Lounge of the University of Leicester’s Charles Wilson Building, commencing at 5.30pm. The event is open to graduates, students, staff and members of the public.
