Partnership between Leicester Riders and our University
Our University is partnering with The Leicester Riders- national champions in British Club basketball.
The University has been collaborating with the Riders across a range of initiatives over the last year, and is committed to improving the sporting options available to their students, and the University’s and their student’s engagement with the local community.
The partnership will include coaching and preferential access for University students to the Leicester Arena and to Riders programmes and activities.
President & Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Boyle said: “We are delighted to partner with the Riders. The University of Leicester plays a significant role in the community and it’s great to form an education and sport partnership with one of the most successful basketball clubs in Britain. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and, also, sport in local schools. We wish everyone at the Riders a happy and successful season.”
Riders Chairman Kevin Routledge said: “The Riders are delighted to be working with the University, and the opportunities that will bring in terms of access to their expertise and support, and the opportunity to engage with their students. We believe this is a great opportunity to increase awareness and improve the quality of coaching and the extent of our support to local schools, colleges and communities.”
