Leicester scientist wins prestigious award

A scientist from our Univeristy has won a prestigious award for outstanding achievement and potential in her field.

Professor Emma Raven (pictured), from the Department of Chemistry, has been awarded the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award.

The scheme, which is jointly funded by the Wolfson Foundation and the Royal Society, provides universities with additional support to enable them to recruit or retain respected scientists of outstanding achievement.

Professor Raven’s research is focussed on the heme proteins and their biological roles.

Professor Raven said: “It is a real honour to be given this award, and I am so grateful to the Royal Society for their support. I am looking forward to exploring new avenues of research during the course of the fellowship.Â
