Laser tag puppy room and inflatable assault course return to campus to help destress students

Our Students’ Union has organised another jam-packed programme of events designed to alleviate student stress during the exam period which runs from 3 – 31 May 2017.

Activities on offer to students this year include the return of a giant inflatable assault course on the Fielding Johnson lawn on Thursday 11 May, laser tag in the O2 Academy on Monday 15 May, a Guide Dogs UK puppy room on Wednesday 24 May, and a Ready Steady Cook-style competition on Friday 19 May.

Massage stations, chill out zones and interactive workshops designed to help students manage their time effectively will also be available as well a whole host of freebies – from Lush cosmetics to exam packs full of stationery and confectionary treats.

Following the success of their 2015 fundraiser that raised over £5,000 for the Nepal earthquake appeal, on Friday 19 May the Mountaineering Team Leicester Club will again be tackling the 46,000 steps of the Attenborough Tower to raise funds for the City of Sanctuary charity who do vital work to support asylum seekers in Leicester.

The Students’ Union executive team will also be granting wishes via twitter using the hashtag #Leicesterlove. Students can tweet their requests and the team will choose their favourite wishes to fulfil. In previous years, students have received free flights, laptops, lunch and even lightsabers!

Jordan Rowson, Marketing and Communications Coordinator of the Students’ Union, said: “In one of the most intense periods of the academic year for our students, it’s important that we are there to support them in as many ways as possible. Alongside our support services offering crucial exam guidance, each year we counter stress by organising a whole host of events and activities to help ease the tension around exams.

“The exam de-stress campaign has evolved each and every year and our plans for 2017 are bigger and better than ever before."
