Leicester expert to discuss Obesity Paradox on BBC Radio 4
Professor Gavin Murphy (pictured) from our Department of Cardiovascular Sciences will be appearing on BBC Radio 4: Inside Health on Tuesday 18 July discussing his research into the Obesity Paradox.
Recent research from our University has shown a relationship between obesity and outcomes following cardiac surgery.
In an apparent paradox Professor Murphy and his team has demonstrated that more obese patients had better outcomes, such as lower mortality. This is referred to as the Obesity Paradox.
Professor Murphy’s research has been widely publicised and covered by numerous news outlets worldwide.
During the BBC appearance, Professor Naveed Sattar of the University of Glasgow will provide an alternative perspective on the University research.
