Survey ranks Leicester among most cost effective universities at which to study

A new survey that compares study-related expenses at universities includes the University of Leicester among the fifteen least expensive universities.

The Daily Telegraph has reported on research conducted by the comparison website GoCompare.com which has compiled data on the costs of tuition, accommodation, travel and other study-related expenses incurred during the course of an undergraduate degree. The survey Degree of Value allows users to compare the individual and total cost of these elements for each UK university.

Leicester is ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world by Times Higher Education (THE) and in the top 2% of universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings, but is also listed as the 14th least expensive university based upon total cost, with costs for accommodation and travel in particular comparing favourably with other universities in the table.

This year, the University of Leicester launched its Fabulous First Year initiative designed to support students to access the range of services and opportunities available to them at university. It follows recent initiatives to enhance the student experience that led to the University’s overall student satisfaction rising to 88% in the latest National Student Survey.
