Is this a new chapter for our literary economy
How to understand a constantly changing publishing industry will be explored during a symposium at our University.
'Literature, Writing and the Creative Economy: New Directions?' has been organised by CAMEo, the Research Institute for Cultural and Media Economies and the Centre for New Writing, and will take place on Friday 24 February, from 2pm at the in the Council Room, Fielding Johnson Building.
Researchers, writers and practitioners are invited to sign up to the free event which will investigate the changing role of literature, writing and writers in the creative industries and creative economy. Professor Claire Squires, from the Stirling Centre for International Publishing and Communication, University of Stirling, will be presenting her talk on ‘“There’s only so much shelf space to go around”: Publishing’s diversity deficit’ and Professor Rick Rylance, from the Institute of English Studies, at the University of London, will consider ‘What’s in the Literary Economy?’
CAMEo is keen to invite interested participants from any academic discipline, writers, publishers, and members of industry to attend this free event, to help discuss the key issues and explore new collaborative opportunities. All are welcome.
