Conference to showcase clinical psychology research

The University will be hosting the annual Clinical Psychology Trainee Research conference on Tuesday 20 September 2016.

The free event ‘‘Immersion in Experience’ A Showcase of Clinical Psychology Research 2016’ will take place in the Frank & Katherine May lecture theatre, in the Henry Wellcome building from 9-4pm on Tuesday 20th September.

The conference will feature a keynote speech from Clinical Psychologist and Mental Health Trainer Rufus May, who will deliver his talk ‘The Proof is in the Pudding’, followed by thesis research and poster presentations by University of Leicester trainees.

Rufus May (pictured) is a British clinical psychologist best known for using his own experiences of being a psychiatric patient to promote alternative recovery approaches for those experiencing psychotic symptoms.

He is passionate about different holistic approaches to improving emotional wellbeing and changing society's approach to mental health.

His interests are rooted within his own experiences of extreme states of mind and psychiatric treatment that he experienced in his late teens. Rufus has a particular enthusiasm for mindfulness, body work, voice dialogue, nonviolent communication and self-help group work.

The event is free but places are limited. To book a place on the conference or for a full schedule, contact Carl Gudgeon on 0116 223 1639 or at: cmg16@le.ac.uk by 12noon on Thursday 15 September.
