MBA graduate named as Innovator of the Year
University of Leicester alumnus Marty Lampner, president and chief executive officer of Chimes, Inc. has been named as an Innovator of the Year by Maryland’s The Daily Record.
Marty earned his master’s degree in business administration from University of Leicester in 2003, as well as a bachelor’s degree in human services from SUNY Utica Rome.
He was the thought-leader behind a new venture for Chimes that created new integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities while offering a set of unique resources to start-up companies that is breaking the business mold of how a traditional not-for-profit operates. The innovation was a business incubator for start-up companies that were and are willing to create opportunities for people with disabilities in exchange for space and other supports new businesses often need.
The Daily Record began the Innovator of the Year awards in 2002 as a way to recognize Marylanders and Maryland-based companies for their innovative spirit – for creating new products, new programs, new services or new processes that have helped their companies, industries or communities. The nominations were judged on four basic criteria: originality, impact, challenge and value.
