Sports centre to raise money for charity

On Friday 18 March, the Danielle Brown Sports Centre will be hosting a jam-packed charity event to raise money for Sports Relief.

From 8am until 6pm, cakes will be on sale in the sports centre and to burn it off afterwards, there are a selection of fitness based challenges for you to compete in. Activities on the day include a netball '5 ball' challenge, a 40m swim sprint against the clock and a 'crucifix challenge', where the aim of the game is to hold up your own weight.

For those of us who aren't quite as fit as we'd like to be just yet, there are also the less exhausting raffle, bottle pong challenge and lucky locker game to get involved with. With prizes on offer such as a tour around the King Power stadium, £25 book vouchers and even £10 off at a local pub, there are plenty of reasons to take part.

Another chance to raise money for charity is the Sport Relief mile, taking place at the Stoughton Road Playing Fields on Sunday 20 March. Duty Manager Dan Jackson has been telling Nathan Ifill how University of Leicester Sports and Recreation get involved in the local community...

For more information, or to sign up to one of the challenges, visit the Danielle Brown Sports Centre reception and speak to a member staff or call 0116 251 3118.
